Welcome to Issue #10 of Sonic Postcards!
The opener for the week's playlist comes off of the The Marfa Tapes, a collection of rough around the edges tracks recorded on a Texas ranch by Jack Ingam, Miranda Lambert, and Jon Randall. The album plays closer to a raw collection of demo takes and most of the tracks are framed by conversational snippets, sounds of the wind, and dirt crunching under boots in the West Texas desert. The surroundings just as much as the songs themselves give the album its charm and its Louis L'amour, cowboy campfire in the desert aesthetic. It was hard to pick a single track from The Marfa Tapes, so I opted to feature two, Waxahachie and Ghost.
